When the Holy Ghost from on High
Descended on the Apostles
With what seemed like tongues of fire.
They were with the Virgin Mary
When there came a sound from Heaven,
As of a mighty wind blowing―
Filling their house in Jerusalem.
We can imagine their wide-eyed wonder,
Perhaps feeling a little alarm—
But when the fiery tongues appeared
They were filled with peace and calm.
For what appeared as fiery tongues
Was the Holy Ghost from Above—
Confirming them in the Truth of the Gospel
With the fire of God’s great Love.
